Local residents Dave Montgomery and Anne Beson were recently recognized by the Province of Ontario for their many hours of volunteer service to the community of Campbellford.
Dave and Anne were both nominated for their many hours of community volunteer hours by Salvation Army Social Service Worker Janey Leach.
Among other volunteers, the two were formally recognized recently for their many hours of service to the Campbellford community. Both Dave and Anne were presented by the Province of Ontario with a certificate and pin presented by the Honorable Eric Hoskins, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration at the Trentwinds International Centre, Peterborough
Dave has partnered with Community Living Campbellford/Brighton, the Salvation Army, and the Campbellford Food Bank for many Christmas’ the past few years. Many of you will remember seeing Dave in front of the Campbellford Community Resource Centre in his Santa suit collecting toys and money for the Salvation Army Kettle and Christmas Hampers that are distributed during the Christmas Season. During the month of December Dave is busy monitoring containers that are collecting toys for the Salvation Army Hamper Program located in many businesses throughout the town. Last year, he saw an increase of toy donations to the number of 300 once all donations received were tallied up. Dave also delivered a full truck load of food to the Campbellford Food Bank as well.
On hand to see the pair receive their awards were Salvation Army Captains Steve and Tina Manuel of the Campbellford and Trenton Salvation Army Community and Family Services, Lori Buchanan of Community Living Campbellford/Brighton and Salvation Army Social Services Worker Janey Leach. Of her nominees Leach said, “Both are faithful, much valued volunteers. Between the two, they have contributed many volunteer hours to the Campbellford community. It is nice to see them officially recognized for their service.”
